OUR CLASS ROCKS!

Activating the extremities (hands and feet) sends blood to the brain and wakes up the body. Begin by having the class stand in a circle. Start this beat by stomping your foot two times and then clapping two times times: stomp, stomp, clap - stomp, stomp, clap

Insert each child’s name in the chant below as you go around the circle.

We think first child’s name is super. Super!
We think second child’s name is super. Super!
     We think….

*Insert a different positive adjective each day, such as awesome, incredible, talented, kind, polite, etc.

Starting Line-up
Divide the class into two lines facing each other. Have lines stand about 2 feet apart. Choose one child at a time to run through the two lines as friends give them “high five.” Announce each child before they run through the lines by saying something line this:

Let’s hear it for Michael Davis. He’s six years old and loves to play soccer.
Let’s hear it for Josie Keyton. She’s five years old and always helps her friends.

We Really Like You
Invite children to brainstorm words that describe good friends. Write these words on index cards and place them in a bag. (You will need a word for each child so you might have to make duplicates of words.) One at a time children come up and choose a word. Sing the word to the tune of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

We like you because you’re wonderful.
We like you because you’re wonderful.
We like you because you’re wonderful.
     We really like you!

Hint! Pin or tape words to children so they can strive for that adjective. If they are not behaving appropriately ask, "Are you doing what your word says? Do I need to take it away from you?" They will want to keep their word for sure!
