NINTH DAY OF JULY PD - JUKE BOX

Why? oral language, phonological awareness

What? gift bag, fun foam or cardboard, words to nursery rhymes, songs, and finger plays

How? Write “Juke Box” on the gift bag. Cut 4 ½” circles out of the foam or cardboard to make “CDs.” As you teach nursery rhymes, finger plays, or songs to your class glue the words to the CDs and place them in the bag. When you have a few extra minutes pretend to hand a child a coin as you say, “Put your quarter in the juke box and pull out a song.” That child pulls out a CD and hands it to you. Sing or say the rhyme or invite the child to lead the class. Pull out CDs as long as you have time.
