WE LOVE OUR FLAG!

It’s almost America’s birthday! We are so blessed to live in this country, and it’s important to remember that and celebrate once a year. I don’t know about you, but I’ll have goose bumps and tears in my eyes as I watch the fireworks explode and hear the “Star Spangled Banner.”

We Love Our Flag
(Tune: “Farmer in the Dell”)
We love our flag.
We love our flag.
We love America
And we love our flag.
Red, white, and blue,
Red, white, and blue,
The colors of our country’s flag
Are red, white, and blue.
50 stars of white
On a field of blue
Stand for 50 states
Where we live, it’s true.

Thirteen stripes
In red and white
Stand for the colonies
For freedom they did fight.
We love our flag…

I know most of you have no need for a song or book right now, but tuck this idea in your brain for the new school year. Wouldn’t this song be a great way to prompt children before the Pledge of Allegiance each day? Here’s a book to go with this song:

A simple way for children to decorate for the 4th is to give them red, white, and blue chalk. Talk about the symbols of our country and then set them free.
*Ben’s Guide (http://bensguide.gpo.gov/3-5/symbols/) is a great site for children to learn more about the United States of America.

Come back tomorrow and I’ll show you a fire cracker sandwich your kids will love!
